Tim Devlin is regularly instructed by the Crown in a variety of matters, including complex, multi-handed cases. He was instructed by the CPS Organised Crime Directorate in a series of trials that successfully prosecuted an entire drug smuggling and distribution network. Confiscation has recently been awarded against the main international dealer, who was extradited from Spain on an International arrest Warrant. Tim Devlin introduced Spanish intercept evidence, voice recognition and other evidence into the trial process with great success. Tim also prosecutes for HM Revenue & Customs and the Department of Business, enterprise, and Regulation, and the DWP.

Recent high profile cases include the prosecution of Raymond Green, an art dealer who defrauded his mother under a power of attorney, reported in the National media, leading for the Crown in a 14-handed prosecution for racially-aggravated violent disorder, and acting alone in a four-handed class A drugs importation case. Tim Devlin prosecuted in the case of Grey, a complex child sex abuse case involving the use of sedative drugs, which resulted in a lengthy custodial sentence. He is currently preparing a large Chinese triad prosecution case for trial later in the year.

A member of the Specialist Rape Prosecution panel, Tim’s experience of sexual offences trials is impressive and extensive. His sympathetic and sensitive approach makes him particularly adept at handling young and vulnerable witnesses. Some of the more high profile cases have been reported in the national and local media. Other general crime expertise includes , arson and kidnapping, and attempted murder. Tim Devlin is on the London CPS grade 4 .

Tim’s varied career has also included being MP for Stockton South from 1987 to 1997, Private Parliamentary Secretary to the Attorney General from 1992 to 1994, and senior expert for the TACIS Programme in Kiev, Ukraine, from 1998 to 1999. He is on the Attorney General’s approved list of counsel and Deputy Chairman of the NHS Tribunal.
