Lucy Cartwright’s exclusively criminal practice is balanced between work for the prosecution and the defence. Her general criminal workload covers violent crime, arson, dishonesty, firearms offences and the import and supply of drugs, among other things. Lucy is particularly adept at dealing with defendants who have serious mental health issues or drug dependency, and is on both the CPS and Attorney General’s list of approved counsel.

Lucy has a particular interest in all aspects of white collar crime and fraud. She acted as junior for the defence in a large-scale VAT fraud involving the abuse of the agricultural flat rate scheme. This groundbreaking case was the first prosecution of its kind. She was disclosure junior in R v Smith (murders of Tony and Toni-Ann Byfield).
