Gino Connor is a Criminal specialist with substantial and wide-ranging experience. He is a member of the South Eastern Circuit and Criminal Bar Association.
Gino’s broad-based criminal practice spans violent crime, including murder, as well as armed robbery and firearms offences. He has lead for the defence in murder trials, serious armed robberies, substantial drug cases and recently in the Lincoln Prison Riot Case.
He has been instructed as junior counsel for the defence in high-profile cases, such as the Duffy railway murder and the Motley blood spotting/DNA case where the defence alleged a third party was responsible.
Sexual crime, including cases involving children, is an area in which Gino particularly excels. Here, Gino has both defended and prosecuted. His track record includes a number of significant trials, such as that of the serial rapist Bartley.
Gino, a level four prosecutor, has prosecuted for the CPS extensively upon the South Eastern Circuit, notably manslaughter, serious sexual offences including rape and child rape. Gino has also prosecuted multi-handed offences including serious violence, firearm offences, armed robbery and drug crime. He has developed an expertise in cell-site evidence and has been instructed as junior counsel in a number of murder trials.
Gino’s notable Court of Appeal cases include R v Sahota (authority on communication between judge and jury) and R v Dhunay and Others (the guideline authority on sentencing of baggage loaders).
