Clementine Boulton is instructed in all areas of criminal law, in regulatory proceedings and also appears in the Immigration and Asylum Tribunal.

Clients, solicitors and opponents have remarked upon Clementine's legal knowledge, thorough preparation and practical approach to her cases. In court, she has been described as a confident and persuasive advocate.

Clementine has considerable experience in dealing with young, mentally ill or otherwise vulnerable defendants and witnesses in the Crown, Youth and Magistrates' courts. She has also undertaken specialist training with the National Autistic Society.

Clementine's current instructions include cases of s.18 wounding, the sexual assault of an 8 year old by a family member, and the presentation of an insanity defence through expert witnesses.

 

SERIOUS CRIME, CRIMINAL/CIVIL FRAUD, SERIOUS SEXUAL OFFENCES

Instructions in the criminal courts have included the full range of violent offences, cases of burglary, robbery, fraud, immigration offences, sexual offences, drugs offences, public order offences, offences under the Directors Disqualification Act, prosecutions by the Department for Work and Pensions, offences involving cruelty to animals and driving offences.

Clementine is frequently instructed to defend in driving matters in the Magistrates' Court. She has successfully advanced arguments of special reasons and exceptional hardship, thus preventing the disqualification of the driver or the endorsement of their driving licence. Clementine has also succeeded in appeals against the revocation of taxi licences, and in applications to remove a disqualification prior to its expiry.

Clementine has experience of prosecuting on behalf of TfL and the Probation Service in the Magistrates' and Crown courts.

 

REGULATION/COMPLIANCE

Clementine has advised upon and appeared in court regarding licensing matters.

 

EXTRADITION

Clementine has appeared at initial hearings for requested persons sought by category 1 and category 2 territories. She successfully presented an argument regarding deficiencies in the EAW, which led to the discharge of the requested person.

 

ASSET FORFEITURE

Clementine appears in civil proceedings for the detention and forfeiture of seized cash, as well as confiscation hearings.

 

IMMIGRATION

Clementine regularly appears on behalf of detainees in immigration bail applications. She has been instructed in appeals against asylum refusal and immigration decisions.
