2011

R-v- Patel
1st ever prosecution and conviction for an offence under the Bribery and Corruption Act 2010. Sentence is pending.

R -v- Thomas Beeckman
Successfully prosecuted the defendant for possession of articles in furtherance of a fraud, namely circuit boards capable of defrauding banks of millions of pounds. Longer than normal sentence imposed as a result Crowns' application of RIPA section 49 requiring the defendant to handover the password.

R -v- Rebecca Balira
First ever prosecution for slavery under the Coroners Act.

R -v- Stuart Archer and others (Operation Weave)
Largest ever drugs prosecution in Bournemouth. Led junior for the defence.

R -v- Saeeda Khan
1st ever case prosecuted under the Trafficking people for exploitation - s.4 Asylum and Immigration (Treatment of Claimants etc) Act 2004 S4(1) and (5). Reliant on ECHR and Palermo protocols for the definition of slavery and exploitation.

R -v- Hincu
Court of Appeal decision giving further direction on the application of IPP and extended sentences in rape cases. Sentences reduced on Appeal from life sentence to extended sentence.

R-v- Critchlow
Prosecution of Cold case rape. Case went to the court of Appeal on preliminary point and provided guidance of use of experts on Rule 33 Criminal Procedure Rules and clarified the "quant point" in the use of LCN DNA evidence.

2010

R -v- Behari Dika ( and 25 others) Operation Montecarl
Led junior prosecution counsel. Importation and supply of Class A drugs - cocaine and money laundering. Targeted operation involving largest attempted importation of cocaine into the UK on the Destiny Empress Ship (4 + tonnes) together with the laundering of over £57 million pounds. All defendants were represented by Queens Counsel and the case involved significant amounts of both international and sensitive disclosure.

Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead -v- Amos Cotter and two others
Defence counsel in Health and Safety Prosecution concerning allegations of Death in the Work Place, deceased fell from rigging during a Cure Band rehearsal at Bray Studios. As a result of legal argument linked to disclosure and Abuse of Process Crown offered no evidence on Day 3 of trial. Co defended with Queens Counsel.

R -v- Bernadette Mappa and two others
Led junior in People trafficking and rape case
Mappa smuggling female into the UK for the purposes of sex trafficking, further enquiries through third party material demonstrated the importation of children for the purposes of economic gain - the latter findings now being dealt with in the Family Courts.

2001 - 2009

R - v- Amman Patel and others (Operation Frant)
Successful prosecution of large scale drugs Operation targeting on Heroin importation

R-v- Osman Hersi and Others (Operation Pauldings)
Successful prosecution of organized crime network including corrupt criminal solicitor NAveen Sagar. Resultant Court of Appeal decision is now leading authority on firearms offences superceding. R -v- Avis. This was also one of the first cases prosecuted using SOCPA agreements.

Prosecuted 18 handed importation of Cocaine, noted as Sunday Times case of the year 2006

Successfully Defended in Asian honour killing

Led junior for the Crown in first UK prosecution of importation of Ketamine

DWP -v- McGuinness
Prosecution of an NHS matron for fraud

R -v- Bentzvelzen
Successfully prosecuted 'Harvey Nichols' criminal damage

R (on the Application of H, A and O) -v- Southampton Youth Court [2004] EWHC 2912 Admin
Three 14 year old boys who had indecently assaulted another 14 year old male. Leading authority on grave crimes test for youths.

R - v- Devine and others
Operation Hesitate - successfully defended conspiracy to supply cocaine.
