Inquests
We regularly appear for interested persons in the Coroner's Court. Experience includes acting in inquests where Article 2 is engaged, whether as a result of a death in police or prison custody or as a result of the use of force, restraint or firearms.
We act for the families of the deceased, insurers, trade unions, police forces and individual officers and are experienced with dealing with the particular sensitivities of such hearings and coping with the limitations of such inquiries. We are happy to provide initial advice on the scope and conduct of inquest hearings and to advise in relation to representation at the hearing.
Public Inquiries
We have appeared in a number of the most significant public inquiries in recent years and act for interested parties, whether they be individuals, government bodies, the police or others.
We have been instructed in relation to the Macpherson Inquiry into the death of Stephen Lawrence, the Victoria Climbie Inquiry and the Cullen Inquiry where we advised on English firearms law as it related to the shootings at Dunblane .
